Big backdated SDLT boost for first time buyers with shared equity

Big backdated SDLT boost for first time buyers with shared equity

Mon 29 Oct 2018

First-time buyers who acquired shared-equity dwellings worth up to £500,000 on or after 22 November 2017 now have no SDLT to pay and may claim back any SDLT they may have already paid.

This builds a substantial extension onto the abolition of Stamp Duty Land Tax payable by first time buyers on property purchases of up to £300,000.

This proposal from the Chancellor is a welcome move to stimulate the first-time buyer market.
