Another go at simplifying the taxation of trusts?

The Chancellor announced in his 2017 Autumn Budget that the Government will publish a consultation in 2018 on how to make the taxation of trusts “simpler, fairer and more transparent”.
This won’t be the first time that the Government has consulted on trying to simplify the taxation of trusts. The last consultation in 2014 came to an end with only limited changes so it will be interesting to see what progress will be made this time and whether objectives to simplify and be fair are achievable.
