Patrick Lannagan and Conrad Pearson of Mazars LLP have been appointed as Joint Administrators of Bootstrap Company (Blackburn) Limited.

There is an opportunity to acquire the business and assets of the company, which is limited by guarantee and a registered charity providing a range of support and training services to unemployed people to improve their job prospects.

Financial Highlights

The company’s most recent draft financial statements for the 5 month period to 31 August 2019 show Income of £666k, with the financial statements for the previous three years to 31 March showing Income of £1.91m – 2019, £2.34m – 2018 and £2.54 – 2017 with net Income for the last three years to 31 March of (£264k) – 2019, (£221k) – 2018 and (£295k). In the periods to 2018 and 2017 there have also been endowments (donations and legacies) of £15k and £40k, respectively.

Fixed assets include two properties in Blackburn and Burnley.

Detail

The Company was founded in 1987 with the objective of helping unemployed people improve their job prospects. Working with those who are disadvantaged in the labour market, for example the long term unemployed; those facing discrimination and those who are unskilled.

Trading from offices in Blackburn with office in Accrington, Burnley and Nelson with approximately 80 members of staff.

The Company offers a range of services to meet those objectives, including:

  • Supporting unemployed local people into employment, including those with health condition or disability, by providing advice and guidance, facilitating and providing work experience and training, and providing support once in employment.
  • Business development support, including training, advice and guidance to local people considering self-employment and to community and voluntary groups looking to develop social enterprises.
  • Training and consultancy to public bodies and other voluntary organisations with similar objectives.
